Ndegwa: Very significant progress, but challenges remain

Serbia has been making very significant progress and the good news is that economic growth has continued, that the labour market has seen a major improvement and that the poverty rate has declined, World Bank Country Manager for Serbia Stephen Ndegwa said Tuesday.

BELGRADE - Serbia has been making very significant progress and the good news is that economic growth has continued, that the labour market has seen a major improvement and that the poverty rate has declined, World Bank Country Manager for Serbia Stephen Ndegwa said Tuesday.


"Growth has picked up and this year it is projected to reach 3.5 pct - in the first half of the year, the economy grew by 4.9 pct, which is quite a significant bump," Ndegwa told a panel at the 18th Serbian Economic Summit.
