BELGRADE - Russian President Vladimir Putin said Thursday Moscow shared Belgrade's concern over Kosovo and noted that Pristina's recent moves could lead to destabilisation in the Balkans.

"The Russian stance is known and we agree that a mutually acceptable solution based on UN SC Resolution 1244 is necessary," Putin told a joint press conference with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic.

Putin expressed regret over provocative moves by the Pristina authorities.

The decision to transform the Kosovo Security Force into an army is a violation of UN SC Resolution 1244, which only allows UN military presence, he said.
