BELGRADE - Ball Packaging has invested 45 mln euros in a new production line and expansion of production and operations in Serbia, which will help create 40 new jobs at its Belgrade plant, the company said Tuesday.

"The new line will significantly boost the capacities in Serbia and our aim is to produce over two billion tin cans a year," said Branislav Savic, the manager of the factory, which is one of Serbia's top exporters and sells 70 pct of its output in over 20 countries.

Ball Packaging is a supplier for major international beer, soft drink and water producers, as well as for smaller companies, which increasingly opt for metal cans as the fully recyclable packaging.

Ball Beverage Europe Belgrade is the largest US greenfield investment in Serbia, the company said in the statement.
