BELGRADE - A tender to select a strategic partner for Komercijalna banka will be launched in early June at the latest, Serbian Finance Minister Sinisa Mali said Monday.

Opening a conference on digital banking, organised by Adria Media Group, he said the government was slowly withdrawing from the banking sector and that it had already sold its stake in Jubmes banka.

He said Postanska stedionica would remain the only state-owned bank.

"Just about ten days ago we formally completed the sale of the minority stake in Jubmes banka and preparations to privatise Komercijalna banka are also underway, and we expect a tender to find a strategic partner to be launched in early June at the latest," Mali said.

The Serbian government has a 42 pct stake in Komercijalna banka, followed by EBRD (24.4 pct) and the IFC (10 pct), which is a part of the World Bank.
