BELGRADE - State Secretary at the Serbian Ministry of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications Tatjana Matic does not expect the conflict between US IT giant Google and China's Huawei to affect consumers in Serbia.

"The conflict will not affect our cooperation (with Huawei), which has been going on for years, within the framework of the Belt and Road initiative. The conflict will lead to no consequences. The projects being implemented by the company will be continued," Matic told the RTS Wednesday, adding that Serbia was planning to take the cooperation with Huawei even further.

Huawei is one of the biggest brands in Serbia and runs various projects with around 40 countries.

"When it comes to Serbia, we do not expect the consumers to suffer any damage," Matic said.

"As many as 23 EU member states have cooperation with Huawei and they are the countries that should be more worried. This will definitely have no impact on us," she said.
