BELGRADE - The business climate in Serbia has improved significantly over the past few years, as reflected in increasing interest among foreign - particularly French - companies in coming to Serbia and expanding production and operations, says Dejan Markovic, CEO of French-owned Schneider Electric Serbia.

"French President Emmanuel Macron's upcoming visit to Serbia certainly represents an aspiration to forge the strongest possible economic ties between the two countries," Markovic has told Tanjug.

During the July 15-16 visit, Macron will also be accompanied by a large business delegation.

More French companies can be expected to come to Serbia and expand business cooperation in this part of Europe, following in the footsteps of those that have already launched operations here over the past few years, he said.

"Besides large corporations, SMEs have great opportunities in this market as large companies increasingly rely on them," Markovic said.

The Serbian IT and agriculture sectors offer particular potential for expansion to French companies, he said.
