LONDON/BELGRADE - The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has secured a 160 mln euro financial package for Serbian SMEs and citizens of Serbia.

The package will be extended to UniCredit Bank Serbia, the EBRD has said in a statement.

It includes a 100 mln euro loan "for on-lending to small and medium-sized enterprises to improve access to finance for this vital sector of the economy and support investments to increase competitiveness in local and international markets," it said.

A 35 mln euro credit line in Serbian dinars, included in the 100 mln euro loan, will "boost the use of local currency to reduce the possible effect of exchange rate volatility and increase funding options for small borrowers."

A "60 mln euro mortgage loan for first-time homeowners, with 60 pct of the total loan amount allocated for lending outside the Serbian capital, Belgrade," is also a part of the package.
