JARINJE - The Red Star FC squad were on Wednesday banned from entering Kosovo-Metohija.

A Tanjug reporter on the ground said the squad had returned from the Jarinje administrative crossing.

Red Star Belgrade were due to play Serbian League West outfit Trepca in Zvecan, Kosovo-Metohija, but the cup match has now been rescheduled for Thursday and moved to Stara Pazova near Belgrade.

Red Star FC Director General Zvezdan Terzic said police officers at the administrative crossing had told him the ban was a decision of the "Kosovo" government, giving no further explanation.

"We came to play football and engage in sport but we were denied that in spite of a FIFA recommendation (that the Zvecan game should go ahead). The 'Kosovo' organisations ignored it," Terzic told reporters at Jarinje.

Dozens of Red Star supporters welcomed the squad at the crossing, guarded by reinforced Kosovo police troops.
