August sees 9.1 pct y-o-y rise in number of building permits

A total 2,136 building permits were issued in Serbia in August 2019, which was a 9.1 pct increase compared to August last year, the national statistical office RZS has said.

BELGRADE - A total 2,136 building permits were issued in Serbia in August 2019, which was a 9.1 pct increase compared to August last year, the national statistical office RZS has said.

"The index of the anticipated value of works in August 2019 increased by 124.1 pct relative to August 2018," it said.

"Observed by types of constructions, in August 2019, 80.6 pct of building permits related to buildings and 19.4 pct to civil engineering," a statement on the RZS website said.

The anticipated value of works of new construction in August 2019 amounted to 84.7 pct of the total anticipated value of works.

Observed by areas, the highest construction activity is expected in the Belgrade District (55.6 pct of the total anticipated value of works), followed by the South Backa District (9.7 pct), the Srem District (6.6 pct), the Pomoravlje District (5.5 pct), and the Branicevo District (4.2 pct), with other areas accounting for 0.1-3.7 pct of the total, the RZS said.
