BELGRADE - Serbia is acquiring exclusively defensive weapons and will not be buying arms that could result in sanctions being imposed against our country, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has said, adding that Serbia had no intention of attacking anyone.

"Serbia is acquiring arms because it is a free country, a small country completely surrounded by NATO member states, with which we want to have good relations. But we will not be a Bambi they will devour," Vucic said on an RTS talk show late Tuesday.

He said he would never let Serbia be as weak as it had been in the 1990s and added that his decisions on weapons purchases were wise and based on the funds Serbia had available.

When asked if Serbia would purchase a Russian-made S-400 missile system, he responded it was a fascinating weapon but that Serbia had no intention of acquiring one because it did not have enough money.
