Brnabic wraps up China trip with visit to car plant

Serbian PM Ana Brnabic on Friday wrapped up a trip to China with a visit to the SAIC Motor plant and the Zhangjiang innovation centre in Shanghai.

SHANGHAI - Serbian PM Ana Brnabic on Friday wrapped up a trip to China with a visit to the SAIC Motor plant and the Zhangjiang innovation centre in Shanghai.

The highly robotised SAIC Motor factory, a 1 mln sq m unit consisting of five production facilities, manufactures 200,000 cars a year.

Brnabic headed a Serbian delegation that attended the 2nd China International Import Expo in Shanghai.

Her most significant meeting in Shanghai was a conversation with Chinese President Xi Jinping, who confirmed he would visit Serbia next year.

She delivered a speech at the opening of the Expo, alongside Xi, French President Emmanuel Macron and Greek PM Kyriakos Mitsotakis.

The Serbian delegation had meetings with major Chinese companies such as Hbis, Huawei and the Bank of China, and a Sino-Serbian business forum was held as well.

While in Shanghai, Brnabic also gave a speech at the Jiao Tong University, visited the Port of Baoshan and took part in the opening of Serbian basketball coach Marina Maljkovic's basketball academy for girls.
