BELGRADE - Serbian PM Ana Brnabic on Wednesday said she expected Q3 2019 figures to show a single-digit unemployment rate in Serbia and that it would be the first time the rate fell below 10 pct.

She recalled the Q2 2019 jobless rate was 10.3 pct - the lowest since records began in 1995.

"The current figures show - and we will have that information at the end of November or in early December - that we will end the third quarter of this year with a single-digit unemployment rate, which is a historic result. Serbia's unemployment rate will finally be under 10 pct," she noted.

Until only a few years ago, the Serbian jobless rate was over 25 pct and slashing it to 10.3 pct is in, fact, a case study on reforming the economy and reducing employment within a short period of time, she said.
