BELGRADE - Works on the construction of the Morava Corridor will begin on December 15 on a location near Krusevac, central Serbia, Tanjug learns.

A 745 mln euro commercial agreement on the construction of a Pojate-Preljina section of the E-761 motorway, dubbed the Morava Corridor, was signed on Thursday with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic in attendance.

It was inked by Serbian Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Zorana Mihajlovic and representatives of the Turkish-US consortium Bechtel Enka UK Limited, Michael Wilkinson and Mehmet Tara.

The 112.3 km Morava Corridor will connect two European corridors - Corridor 10 and Corridor 11 - and all major towns and cities in a central Serbian region that has a population of around 500,000 and includes Cacak, Kraljevo, Vrnjacka Banja, Trstenik, Krusevac and Cicevac.

The 30 m wide motorway will have around 140 structures, including 71 bridges, 23 overpasses and five underpasses, 31 culverts and 11 interchanges.
