BELGRADE - The Belgrade City Board of the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) unilaterally decided on Monday to nominate Aleksandar Vucic for the position of the SNS leader in the elections.
The SNS City Board and all municipal boards in Belgrade gave absolute support to the policy promoted by Vucic as the current leader of the party which is the strongest member in the ruling coalition in Serbia.
The release issued by the SNS Belgrade City Board states that the policy entails ruthless fight against corruption and crime, especially against tycoon-funded lobbies which led to the destruction of the country over the past few years and which are still trying to stop the reform process in Serbia.
“The attempts of tycoons and criminals to preserve their lucrative illegal doings by making Vucic step down from key positions in the party and government will not be successful and will not intimidate SNS or stop Serbia's fight for a better and more just state,” states the release.
The SNS Belgrade City Board said that Vucic was targeted by attacks and this is why it is fighting for a country of equal opportunities in which laws would be respected.
SNS MP Vladimir Cvijan released on Monday that he will also run for the party leader.
