BELGRADE - EIB Global has approved 45 mln euros for two educational projects in Serbia and 31 mln for water transport, and Finance Minister Sinisa Mali says the 76 mln euro aid will go to investments to modernise educational institutions as well as to further renovation and development of infrastructure.

According to a statement released by the EU Info Network, Mali said the EIB was a long-time dependable partner of Serbia and that boosting the country's productivity further was one of the government's priorities.

"Our priority is to continue development even in a time of crisis and to continue reforms and the launched major investment cycle, which has produced results that our partners such as the EIB always recognise and support. Projects such as this one will be continued, and we are thankful to the EIB for supporting us in that work," Mali said.

The approved funds will boost the competitiveness, connectivity and productivity of the Serbian economy and create new employment opportunities, the statement said.
