BELGRADE - Serbian Minister of Science, Technological Development and Innovation Jelena Begovic announced on Thursday the construction of BIO4 campus facilities would begin in 2025 and that the campus could become a new home for the Serbian scientific community in the fields of artificial intelligence (AI) and IT.
Development of AI does not only change the way we work but also paves the way for innovation and startups, Begovic told Tanjug.
Science plays a crucial role in development of society, Begovic said, announcing that 2025 would mark a new beginning for promotion of science in Serbia.
Serbia will also chair the Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence (GPAI) in 2025.
Begovic said the BIO4 campus would combine biomedicine, biotech, bioinformatics and biodiversity as a unique multidisciplinary project in the wider region.
The approx. 30 ha campus will be home to scientific institutions and university faculties, she said.
"We want to internationalise the BIO4 campus, which means that our goal is to bring together a slightly wider community and get at least a part of our diaspora to return to Serbia," Begovic said.
