BELGRADE - Serbian Minister of Science, Technological Development and Innovation Jelena Begovic met with new Turkish Ambassador to Belgrade Ilhan Saygili on Friday to discuss cooperation in innovation and artificial intelligence (AI).
At the meeting, Begovic highlighted the key successes of Serbian scientists and researchers, an official statement said.
"The world is changing according to advances in technology, and Serbia is actively investing in progress in the IT sector, with special focus on AI. We are also actively considering future technologies and IT strategies through funding and legislative adaptation. We know Turkey has high-quality science parks and research institutes. We also have bilateral projects with Turkey that we are carrying out, and there are also other fields in which we could work together," the minister noted.
She gave the ambassador a presentation of the BIO4 Campus project and said construction works to build the complex were expected to begin soon.
"We want to position all biotech faculties and research institutes in one place to create a new, high-quality scientific ecosystem," Begovic explained.
Saygili said he was honoured to be in Serbia as it was globally recognised as a country with a positive national strategy in science and technological development.
"The results achieved by Serbia's IT community are growing exponentially. Serbia is keeping up with tectonic changes that are currently taking place in science, IT and technologies that will be shaping our future. Serbia and Turkey have brilliant potential for cooperation and advancement of their startup communities," he said.
