NOVI SAD - A second Continental Automotive Serbia factory opened at Kac, near Novi Sad, on Thursday.
Worth around 140 mln euros, the 30,000 sq m megafactory will be one of Continental's largest production plants in the world.
The opening ceremony was also attended by Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, who said the factory was very important for the Serbian economy and that Continental planned to invest an additional 150 mln euros and create 1,500 more jobs over the next four years.
"They do not come here to stay for a few years, but permanently. I hope they will stay forever. Today, I fought for Continental to open a R&D centre in Nis. We will see," Vucic said after a tour of the factory.
Production at the new Kac plant has already begun, with series production slated to start in mid-2023.
As early as in 2024, the factory is due to produce over one million digital screen and panel solutions and deliver them to manufacturers of premium automotive brands.
