BRUSSELS - As of Thursday, May 22, Serbia is officially part of the geographical scope of the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA) payment schemes, the European Payments Council (EPC) has announced.

"The National Bank of Serbia has taken steps to align its payment systems and regulations with European Union standards," the EPC said in a statement.

In an important step on its EU integration path, Serbia has become the 41st country to join the SEPA.

Serbian Finance Minister Sinisa Mali said the move would take practical effect in May 2026.
