BELGRADE - At a meeting with a delegation of the Chinese mining company Zijin, Serbian Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Aleksandra Sofronijevic said her government appreciated the fact Zijin had decided to invest in Bor, a city in eastern Serbia, in a difficult time for the country.
Sofronijevic noted that the significance of Zijin investments in Serbia was undeniable and a result of a steely friendship between Serbia and China and, especially, a good personal relationship maintained by Presidents Aleksandar Vucic and Xi Jinping, the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure said in a statement.
"We appreciate the contribution to Serbia's economic development, especially in the Bor District. We are especially glad to see that you are a socially responsible company that sets aside money for community projects that raise further the quality of life of the citizens of Bor," Sofronijevic told the delegation.
Zijin Copper Director General Qiu Guozhu thanked the ministry for supporting the company in the past six years.
He noted that Zijin had invested 4 bln dollars in various projects in Serbia during that period.
The delegation also included Serbia Zijin Mining Director General Su Yongding, the statement said.
