BELGRADE - The Maldives have officially confirmed their participation in the specialised EXPO 2027 Belgrade, to be held under the theme of Play for Humanity: Sport and Music for All.

The Maldives have become the 110th country confirmed to take part in the event, EXPO 2027 Ltd announced on Wednesday.

"Serbia has achieved incredible success - to date, as many as 110 countries from around the world have confirmed their participation in EXPO 2027 Belgrade, whereby the original target of receiving confirmations from 100 countries by end-2025 has been exceeded," it said in a statement.

"The confirmations from 110 countries in the early stage of preparations are the ultimate proof of the global trust enjoyed by Serbia and the best indicator of the strength and the power of its cultural diplomacy," it said.

"The fact that we have already exceeded the 100-country target for 2025 in the first half of the year will be an encouragement for us to work even harder to reach the 120-country target very quickly. Constantly, month by month, Serbia is raising the bar and we are very happy and proud that play has been recognised as a universal point uniting countries on all meridians. Belgrade will continue to move on the path paved by history and to be what it has always been - a bridge connecting all nations, faiths, cultures, customs and traditions, this time through play, music and sport," said EXPO 2027 Ltd Director Dusan Borovcanin.

EXPO 2027 Belgrade, to take place from May 15 to August 15, 2027, is expected to feature more than 120 countries and attract over four million visitors.
