Serbia registers 78 bln dinar budget deficit in January-April

BELGRADE - Between January and April this year, Serbia registered a 78 bln dinar budget deficit, which is 107.9 bln dinars better than a planned 185.9 bln deficit.

Revenues totalled 683.7 bln dinars while expenditures stood at 761.7 bln dinars.

According to figures released by the Ministry of Finance, a 50.2 bln dinar deficit was registered in April alone.

April revenues totalled 189.9 bln dinars, while expenditures amounted to 240 bln dinars.

Tax revenues amounted to 164 bln dinars and were mostly comprised of VAT (87.1 bln) and excise duties (32.2 bln).

Non-tax revenues amounted to 25.6 bln dinars and donations stood at 0.3 bln dinars.

Expenditures for employees totalled 46.7 bln dinars, transfers to the pension and disability insurance fund, the national health insurance fund, the military social insurance fund and the national employment service totalled 27.6 bln dinars, with capital expenditures at 81.7 bln and subsidies disbursed at 28.9 bln dinars.

At general government level, a 62.6 bln dinar fiscal deficit and a 5.2 bln dinar primary fiscal deficit were registered in the first four months of 2025, the ministry said.
