BELGRADE - Serbian PM Djuro Macut met with an International Monetary Fund (IMF) delegation headed by Mission Chief Annette Kyobe to discuss the results of Serbia's economic policy to date and further strengthening the cooperation with the IMF.

Macut noted that the cooperation with the international financial institution represented a key pillar for securing long-term macroeconomic stability and sustainable economic growth in Serbia, the Serbian government said in a statement.

Macut also noted that his government was fully committed to continuing to carry out reform processes.

In spite of numerous global challenges and unfavourable economic trends, Serbia has succeeded in preserving macroeconomic stability, maintaining a favourable business environment and achieving continued economic growth, the PM said.

He highlighted the significance of maintaining fiscal discipline and advancing the efficiency of the management of public finances.

Macut said Serbia's strategic priorities were to preserve and enhance the existing business environment, create jobs, boost the capacities of the national industry and continue to attract FDI.

Reforms and measures that are being carried out are aimed at boosting the competitiveness of the economy and improving the citizens' living standards, he noted.

Kyobe noted that the IMF remained strongly committed to supporting Serbia in achieving its development goals and economic objectives.

She added that intensive dialogue and close cooperation with the Serbian government would be continued going forward with a view to strengthening the institutional framework further and reaching sustainable economic growth.
