Mesarovic: FTA with China foundation of bilateral economic cooperation

BELGRADE - China's Jiangsu SOHO Holdings Group and the Belt and Road Institute signed a MoU in Belgrade on Thursday.

Serbian Deputy PM and Minister of Economy Adrijana Mesarovic said a FTA with China was a treasure for Serbia that was the foundation of bilateral economic cooperation.

After a signing ceremony at the Institute, Mesarovic said Serbia was a second home to its friends from China and that Chinese investments meant much for the Serbian economy.

Belt and Road Institute Director Bojan Lalic said the Chinese company had carried out major projects not only in Serbia, but across Europe as well.

"The Milos the Great motorway, the Belgrade-Budapest rail line... Schoolchildren will be taught of that when studying Europe's development," Lalic added.

He said celebrations of the Chinese New Year across Serbia were also an indicator of the Sino-Serbian friendship.

"Most often, the celebrations take place in cities where our friends from China work," he said.

The ceremony was also attended by Chinese Ambassador to Belgrade Li Ming.
