Serbian January-May GDP up by around 2.2 pct y-o-y - MAT

BELGRADE - Serbia's January-May 2025 GDP was up by an estimated 2.2 pct y-o-y, according to the new issue of the Makroekonomske analize i trendovi (MAT) economic bulletin.

In an analysis of economic activity, the bulletin notes that, on the production side, the Other Services sector had been the key source of growth, with industry contributing around 0.4 pp.

Y-o-y, industry grew by 4.4 in May, while the manufacturing sector was up by 7 pct.

Y-o-y growth of external trade was in double figures - goods exports were up by 17.3 pct and imports up by 6.8, resulting in a 26.8 pct decline of the goods trade deficit.

The export-to-import ratio was 83.7 pct - a performance exceeded only in September 2016 (84.0 pct) and April 2017 (84.5 pct), the authors of the analysis pointed out.
