BELGRADE - Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic met with European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) Vice President Matteo Patrone in Belgrade on Tuesday to discuss a growing scope of EBRD activities and investments in Serbia, as well as joint projects contributing to Serbia's further economic development.

"We devoted special attention to the infrastructure, energy and innovation sectors, where we see major opportunities for even more intensive cooperation," Vucic wrote in an Instagram post after the meeting.

Vucic and Patrone also exchanged views on current and planned EBRD projects that are a part of the Serbian budget, such as modernisation of the railway network, improvements to the long-distance heating system, development of science and technology parks and construction of modern landfills, and discussed ways of timely and efficient implementation of those projects.

"I highlighted the significance of flexibility in procedures and of taking into account the needs of investors to ensure stability and predictability in implementing all phases of cooperation. I believe that, through a partnership, we will be able to strengthen Serbia's development potentials further," Vucic noted.

He added that he had also pointed out the significance of conducting all projects efficiently, with a balance between procedures and real needs.

"I am confident that, through open dialogue and mutual understanding, we will continue to advance our cooperation and build a modern, sustainable and innovative Serbia, in the best interest of our citizens," Vucic posted.
