BELGRADE - Serbian PM Djuro Macut received Zijin representatives on Tuesday to discuss the Chinese mining firm's investments in Serbia to date, plans to boost its operations and further development of the mining sector in keeping with top environmental protection standards.
Macut noted that Zijin was one of the largest foreign investors in Serbia and a major partner in development of local communities, job creation and bolstering the country's industrial potential, the Serbian government said in a statement.
He noted that his government remained committed to enhancing the investment environment and preserving stability while especially caring for environmental protection and respect for labour rights, and urged the Zijin representatives to boost environmental protection capacities not only in the area surrounding the Bor mine, but in entire eastern Serbia.
The representatives thanked Macut for the government support for investors and noted that Zijin was planning to make new investments to help boost production through leading-edge technologies, green development being the company's concept of development.
