Vucic, HBIS representatives discuss cooperation, new investments

BEIJING - Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic met on Wednesday in Beijing with representatives of Chinese steel producer HBIS, which acquired Serbia's Smederevo steel mill in 2016, to discuss the cooperation to date as well as plans for the future and new investments that would further strengthen capacities and advance production technologies.

"A good, strategically-oriented discussion with HBIS, which already has a presence in Serbia through the Smederevo steel mill and employs thousands of people. At the meeting, we discussed the cooperation to date, as well as plans for the future and new investments that would further strengthen capacities and advance production technologies," Vucic wrote in a post on his buducnostsrbijeav Instagram account.

He added that HBIS was one of the largest foreign investors in Serbia and that its commitment to Serbia demonstrated that the partnership was a crucial one for the Serbian industry.
