Serbian Office for IT and eGovernment signs MoU with UAE-based company

DUBAI - Director of Serbia's Office for IT and eGovernment Mihailo Jovanovic and Etisalat and Enterprise CEO Khalid Murshed signed on Monday in Dubai a MoU on cooperation in information technologies and innovation.

The cooperation will set the framework for commercial use and joint advancement of the State Data Centre in Kragujevac, central Serbia, as well as for applications of modern information technologies with the aim of supporting digitalisation, innovation and development of smart solutions.

Jovanovic said the Dubai-based company planned a series of concrete activities in Serbia, starting from use of State Data Centre services.

"The company is also interested in joint investments in expanding the capacities of the Kragujevac State Data Centre, as well as in introducing new technologies and services at the Data Centre," Jovanovic said at the Etisalat and Enterprise headquarters.

The company is also interested in investing in the green economy segment and in development of smart cities, he said.

"What is important is that the Etisalat management notes that it wants to invest in the innovation ecosystem, in Serbian startups, science and technology parks, as well as in development of new technologies and exchange of know-how," Jovanovic said, adding that the cooperation would "definitely contribute to further development of Serbia's ICT sector."
