ROME - Serbian Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Goran Vesic met with Italian Deputy PM and Minister of Infrastructure and Transport Matteo Salvini in Rome on Tuesday.
After the meeting, Vesic said that, in the period to come, the two countries would work together on abolishing transit permits.
Initially, the number of permits issued will be increased and the procedure for issuing them will be facilitated, after which a joint commission will meet to work on abolishing them, he said.
He also said the two governments would sign a memorandum of cooperation in infrastructure in the coming weeks.
Also, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia will soon host a meeting of Serbian and Italian construction companies that will discuss joint participation in tenders and expansion of cooperation, he also said.
On behalf of the president and the government of Serbia, Vesic thanked Salvini for his support to Serbia, including during the 1999 NATO aggression.
Salvini conveyed to Vesic the Italian government's support for Serbia's European path and EU membership.
The parties agreed that bilateral trade is growing but that there is still space for more work when it comes to the IT industry, the creative industry and green energy.
