Lucic: Telekom Srbija's arrangement with US EXIM bank to be finalised by November

BELGRADE - Telekom Srbija CEO Vladimir Lucic said on Tuesday the company's arrangement with the US EXIM bank was due to be finalised by November and added that US support was very important for the development of a 5G network in Serbia.

Speaking to Prva TV, Lucic said Telekom Srbija was the only telecoms operator cooperating with the European Investment Bank, and added that this was proof that both Europe and the US saw Telekom Srbija as the main telecommunications industry player in the Western Balkans and the only driver of optical infrastructure and 5G network development in the future.

He said Telekom Srbija was also ready to invest in development of artificial intelligence, which he noted was one of the US's biggest projects.

"Development of artificial intelligence is one of the biggest projects of the Trump administration," he added.

He said the goal was to establish the best possible cooperation with major digital companies such as Amazon and Meta.

Lucic also said Telekom Srbija was investing in 24 startups with exceptional potential.

"Our goal is for at least some of those startups to be worth over one billion, and some of them really have the potential. Those people really have excellent ideas," he said.

He also noted that Belgrade would become the Newsmax headquarters for entire Eastern Europe.
