LESKOVAC - Serbian PM Djuro Macut said on Monday Serbia was working on a project to build a high-speed rail line between Belgrade and Nis and that the route could then be extended to Greece.
"On the North Macedonian side, there is a great deal of understanding for this and recently, during discussions with North Macedonian PM (Hristijan) Mickoski in Skopje, I had an opportunity to gain an understanding of their intent to work on railways, on modernising railways in North Macedonia, at an accelerated pace. That will certainly encourage us to speed up this entire matter and to turn from an already finalised, finished matter of reaching the border with Hungary to the south and to establish a corridor," Macut told reporters during a visit to Leskovac, southern Serbia.
He added that he expected train journeys between Belgrade and Leskovac to take an hour to an hour and a half in the near future.
