BELGRADE - The director of Serbia's Office for IT and eGovernment Mihailo Jovanovic announced on Thursday Serbia would install the largest supercomputer cluster in Southeast Europe next year.
"We are proud the ICT sector is the most promising economic sector in Serbia today. ICT services exports reached a record-high 4.1 bln euros in 2024, which is 11 times more compared to 2012, and the surplus was 3.2 bln euros. The growth continued in 2025 - in the first nine months, ICT services exports reached 3.333 bln euros, which is 12 times more relative to the same period of 2024," Jovanovic said at the 25th Synergy event, held in Belgrade.
At this rate, ICT service exports will exceed 4.5 bln euros by the end of the year, he said.
Jovanovic said Serbia would continue to invest in supercomputers and applications of AI in various social spheres.
"That will result in a system that will be seven times faster than the existing one after the first upgrade in 2026, and it will enable much higher data processing capabilities. The second stage of the upgrade, planned for end-2026, will enable Serbia to have Southeast Europe's largest supercomputer cluster as early as the beginning of 2027", he said, adding that the cluster would be aimed at development of AI-based solutions.
