NIS - Italian household appliances maker Ariston opened a plant in Nis, southern Serbia, on Thursday at a ceremony also attended by Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, who said it would be important for entire southern Serbia and that it symbolised a true and sincere friendship between Serbia and Italy.
Vucic, Ariston Group President Paolo Merloni and Italian Ambassador to Serbia Luca Gori officially opened the factory by jointly pressing a button.
"The opening of the Ariston Climate Solutions factory is not only a significant event for Nis and the people in Nis and its vicinity - and it will also help the entire south of Serbia - but also a symbol of a true and sincere friendship between Serbia and Italy," Vucic said.
He said the 75 mln euro plant, which will manufacture heat pumps, would hire 175 people by the New Year and that its workforce would eventually rise to 300.
He thanked the Italian ambassador for his huge efforts and exceptional energy invested in advancement of bilateral relations.
Vucic asked Gori to convey his regards and gratitude to Italian PM Giorgia Meloni for her comprehensive support for Serbia.
"We will never forget that," he said.
