BELGRADE - The Serbian parliamentary committee on finance approved on Friday two bills on financial cooperation with France.

The committee passed a bill confirming a financial protocol between the governments of Serbia and France on cooperation in financing projects aimed at developing high-performance computers, supercomputers and artificial intelligence (AI), as well as a bill confirming a loan agreement with France and a financial protocol signed on November 27, 2025 by the two governments as well as by the Republic of Serbia and France's Bpifrance Assurance Export as the lender.

Assistant Director of the Office for IT and eGovernment Dragana Becic noted that a significant improvement of the quality and availability of public administration services was the first and most important benefit of the loan agreement.

"Application of AI will enable the government to provide quicker, more streamlined and more personalised services as part of administrative procedures, making time frames shorter and increasing the legal certainty for citizens and businesses. Also, a very important benefit is development of the protection of the Serbian language in the digital age. Through a national project of developing a Serbian language model, we ensure that the Serbian language is correctly understood and used by modern AI systems," she noted.

"The infrastructure to be provided through the agreement we are debating today will be available to scientific institutions, universities, local startups and SMEs, as well as to the public administration, whereby we will spur further development of AI," she said.

Becic said the agreement would also strengthen Serbia's international position as it would be enable the country to cooperate with the top companies in France, a European leader in application of AI.
