BELGRADE - Telekom Srbija CEO Vladimir Lucic said on Monday that, in 2026, his company would focus on development of its 5G network.

In an appearance on Prva TV, Lucic said Belgrade, Novi Sad, Kragujevac, Nis and Subotica had 5G coverage and that the goal was to expand it to also include all other Serbian cities, as well as to achieve 100 per cent coverage in the country by 2028.

"The 5G network we are building, a so-called advanced standalone 5G network, enables the highest speeds and the lowest signal latency, which is especially important for development of AI-based services, robots or automated cars or flying taxis, because all those devices require good 5G network quality. They can be operated exclusively in areas with 5G network coverage," Lucic said, noting that the Telekom Srbija 5G network currently had 1.2 million users.

He said development of a mobile network in the US and further development in Germany were another segment of the company's development, and noted that sales in Germany were "going exceptionally well."
