BELGRADE - Serbian Finance Minister Sinisa Mali announced on Thursday a development strategy for the national power company EPS would be unveiled by the end of May and noted that privatisation of the EPS was out of the question as it needed to become a true engine of Serbia's development.
In an appearance on the RTS, Mali said the strategy was important and that the war in Ukraine had exposed all the deficiencies of the European energy system.
"When the Ukraine conflict began last year, it became evident how significant a strong energy sector is. By the end of May, we will come out with a project about what we need to invest," Mali noted.
He said that, by 2030, a large portion of generated energy would have to come from renewable sources.
"Privatisation of the EPS is out of the question. It needs to become a true engine of Serbia's development," Mali noted.
