Mesarovic, Hebei governor see off train carrying Serbian products to China

BELGRADE - Serbian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Adrijana Mesarovic and the governor of China's Hebei province Wang Zhengpu visited on Wednesday an intermodal terminal in Batajnica and attended a ceremony at which a train carrying Serbian products set off to Hebei and the Shijiazhuang international land terminal.

Thanks to the steely friendship between Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and Chinese President Xi Jinping, Serbia has signed a FTA with China that has opened new prospects for marketing Serbian products in that country, Mesarovic said.

"Mesarovic underlined that Serbian products, both in terms of price and quality, are absolutely competitive and have the potential to find their way to end customers in China," a government statement said.

"The Deputy Prime Minister stated that she discussed with the Governor of the Hebei Province specific steps for additional promotion of Serbian products, primarily our wines, brandies, honey and other products, for which there is already interest in other parts of China," it also said.

"The train with Serbian goods will reach its destination in about 20 days, and rail transport is one of the most favourable and efficient modes of transport for further development of our trade cooperation with China," Mesarovic was quoted as saying.
