LAZAREVAC - Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) Commissioner for Belgrade Ana Brnabic said on Monday Serbia's national power company EPS would not be sold or privatised and that the objective was to strengthen it.

Brnabic said this during a visit to the SNS municipal committee in Lazarevac, a suburban municipality of Belgrade where EPS has 14,000 employees.

She said EPS was a national treasure and a national resource of Serbia.

"What I want us to do is to strengthen it further and create not only a strong energy company for Serbia, but also a company capable of competing in Europe and supporting all the progress and development in Serbia. I want to tell people they have nothing to be afraid of because the articles of association were prepared so as to make electricity production the primary activity, as opposed to trade, which used to be the primary activity," explained Brnabic, who is also Serbia's PM.
