JIAXING - Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic announced on Wednesday in Jiaxing, China, that manufacture of robots in Serbia would begin between July 10 and 20 and that, in two months, Serbia would have humanoid robots, something that no other European country would have.
On the fourth day of an official visit to China, Vucic said agreements envisioning 953 mln euros of new investments in Serbia had been signed in Jiaxing and added that the investments would go to different cities - Nis, Novi Sad, Zrenjanin, Sabac, Cuprija and Indjija.
"What we saw, experienced and did today is why we do what we do and work hard. I would also like to thank our teams and the people who have worked hard and diligently so that we can achieve all this today. I believe that, in the coming period, we will be speaking of an even higher number of investors. So far, we have had 18 meetings with businesspeople and there will be five more tomorrow, which is 23 in total, and everyone wants to come to Serbia and invest in our country, especially after the friendly words of President Xi. But this is not just a matter of ordinary investments - it is something that makes a huge difference," Vucic told reporters after a visit to autoparts maker Minth and the signing of new investment agreements with China.
He said robots would be manufactured in three stages in Serbia and that the first stage - assembly - would begin between July 10 and 20 and that the second stage had to do with so-called data factories, or training factories for robots.
Vucic said the third stage involved use of artificial intelligence and that Serbia would become a front-runner as it would produce its first humanoid robots in two months.
"No one in Europe has what Serbia will have in just two months," Vucic said.
