BELGRADE - Serbian PM Djuro Macut met with South Korean Minister of Trade Yeo Han-koo in Belgrade on Friday following the signing of a Joint Statement on the Completion of Negotiations on the Conclusion of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement between the Government of Serbia and the Government of the Republic of Korea.

The meeting was also attended by Serbian Minister of Internal and Foreign Trade Jagoda Lazarevic, who signed the statement with Yeo.

"The signing of the Joint Statement marked the conclusion of negotiations on the free trade agreement, which will enhance the framework for bilateral economic relations by creating favourable conditions for businesses and investors from both countries, while also providing a platform for cooperation through various mechanisms," Macut noted.

He added that the move would "encourage continuous dialogue and help further deepen the economic partnership between Serbia and the Republic of Korea," a government statement said.

"The Prime Minister also pointed out that the visit of the Minister for Trade of the Republic of Korea is the first such visit since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries in 1989, and that the launch of negotiations and the conclusion of a free trade agreement were initiated in November 2022 during a meeting between the Prime Ministers of the two countries.

Prime Minister Macut announced that the signing of the agreement is planned for the coming period, after both sides complete the preparatory procedures," it also said.
