Macut chairs council coordinating activities and measures aimed at GDP growth

BELGRADE- Serbian PM Djuro Macut chaired on Monday a session of a council coordinating activities and measures aimed at GDP growth, at which it was said that the Q1 GDP growth rate stood at 3.2 pct.

"According to this parameter, only a few countries in Europe are ahead of Serbia, it was said at the session, which looked at the results of economic developments in the first quarter of this year and activities aimed at preserving economic stability and stimulating further growth," a government statement said.

"It was stated that positive results in the first quarter were recorded in the areas of tourism, construction and foreign trade.

Participants in the session also highlighted that the inflation rate in this period was 3.5 pct, which is close to the eurozone average.

The importance of continuing the investment cycle and accelerating the implementation of projects that have a direct impact on economic activity was highlighted, with the emphasis on accelerating the implementation of the 20 most important investment projects.

Macut pointed out the importance of continuing direct dialogue with companies that contribute the most to GDP growth, in order to overcome challenges on the domestic and international markets, with the support of the Serbian government," it also said.
