BELGRADE - Serbian Minister of Internal and External Trade Jagoda Lazarevic announced on Wednesday a Serbia-Japan agreement on mutual promotion and protection of investments would take effect on July 30.
The Japanese government has finalised all internal procedures required for the agreement to enter into force and informed the Serbian government of this, whereby all conditions for the start of its implementation have been met, Lazarevic said.
"The entry into force of this agreement represents an important step in further strengthening of Serbia-Japan economic relations and sends a strong message to Japanese companies that Serbia is a safe, stable and reliable investment destination," Lazarevic posted on Instagram.
She added that, at the same time, the agreement was a strong incentive to Japanese companies already operating in Serbia to expand their investments, as well as an important signal to new Japanese investors to invest in Serbia and launch new investment projects.
The agreement is a result of intensive bilateral activities by the two countries, including a visit to Japan by Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic last September.
