BELGRADE - Serbian Finance Minister Sinisa Mali said on Tuesday Serbia would host an ITU AI for Good Impact Europe summit in May next year, during EXPO 2027 Belgrade.

After India and South Africa, the summit will be held in Europe for the first time.

Mali pointed out that this was a major international recognition to Serbia, which he noted was joining a group of countries that were hosting the world's top tech events, as well as an indicator that EXPO 2027 is recognised as a global platform for debates on the technologies shaping the future of mankind.

"More good news for our country! In May next year, during EXPO 2027, Serbia will host the large, important ITU AI for Good Impact Europe summit. It will be the third such regional summit in the world, after India in 2024 and South Africa in 2025. Next year, the summit will be held in Europe for the first time - in our country," Mali posted on Instagram.

EXPO 2027 will be the largest event in the world next year, with 140 participant countries and more than four million visitors, Mali added, noting that the event was a major development chance for Serbia and the engine of its economic development.

"The very fact that Serbia will host the ITU AI for Good Impact Europe summit as part of the EXPO 2027 Business Programme, is an example of how the EXPO is contributing to the country's progress and to its positioning in the modern world, and of how it creates opportunities and brings large new projects," Mali noted.
