BELGRADE - Serbian Minister of Internal and External Trade Jagoda Lazarevic met on Tuesday in Belgrade with Zimbabwean Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade Amon Murwira.
Lazarevic said the two countries maintained traditionally good ties and that the goal was to advance their economic cooperation further.
Serbia and Zimbabwe signed a memorandum of cooperation between Zimbabwe's agency for development and promotion of trade, ZimTrade, and the Serbia Export platform, launched by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia.
"Our goal now is to complement the excellent political relations with economic cooperation. That is why the two agencies, Serbia Export and ZimTrade, have signed a memorandum on cooperation. Serbia Export, established by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia, is a coordination platform. It integrates everything in the chain, from producers, traders of goods to service providers, so that we can offer some solutions to countries we want to work with," Lazarevic said, adding that Africa was a key market for the platform.
"Cooperation between ZimTrade and Serbia Export is definitely something that will make our cooperation concrete. We have agreed concrete things we will be doing during the EXPO, in which Zimbabwe will participate, because we also want to commit seriously to the bilateral part of advancement of trade cooperation, to opening the door for Serbian companies to that African country, as well as to promoting their products in Serbia, as it (Zimbabwe) is a country that is one of the fastest-growing African economies, a country that is conducting its economic reforms exceptionally successfully, a state that has exceptional natural wealth - more than 80 rare mineral elements," she said.
Murwira noted that political and social cooperation between Serbia and Zimbabwe could be described as strong and excellent and that Serbia-Zimbabwe economic relations had a great future.
Lazarevic - who is also Serbia's EXPO 2027 commissioner - EXPO 2027 LLC CEO Danilo Jerinic and a Zimbabwean delegation headed by Murwira visited the EXPO 2027 Playground in Belgrade.
