MOL: Talks with NIS's seller, authorities progressing towards final stage

BUDAPEST - The Hungarian oil firm MOL Group said on Friday its talks with the seller of the Serbian oil company NIS and the relevant authorities were progressing towards the final stage.

In a Q2 2026 financial report, MOL highlighted a June 16 shareholder agreement on future management of NIS, signed with the Serbian government, as one of the most significant events.

Since October 9, NIS has been under US sanctions due to its Russian-majority ownership.

On July 31, the US Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) extended an operating licence for NIS until August 28.

A licence for MOL-Gazprom neft talks about an acquisition of a Russian majority stake in NIS by MOL was also extended until the same date.
