Momirovic: FTA with South Korea could take bilateral trade past 1 bln dollar mark

BELGRADE - Serbian Minister of Internal and External Trade Tomislav Momirovic said on Thursday a visit by South Korean special presidential envoy Jang Sung Min to Serbia was a new step in development of relations between the two countries.

Speaking at a Serbia-Korea Roundtable, Momirovic said a FTA with South Korea could take the annual volume of bilateral goods trade past the 1 bln dollar mark.

In a statement to Tanjug, he said the business conference was aimed at boosting the relations between the two countries.

"Korea, which has made incredible strides in the past decades, has unbelievable economic potential. The volume of our bilateral trade is close to 600 mln dollars and if we sign a FTA with them, we expect that it could exceed 1 bln dollars very soon," Momirovic said.

That means new jobs, new business deals and new opportunities for many people here, he said.
