BELGRADE - Serbian caretaker Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Aleksandra Sofronijevic said on Wednesday the Hungarian side had successfully completed the final full-load test run on its stretch of a Belgrade-Budapest high-speed rail line and that a response to her inquiry about the line's launch date was pending.

Speaking to reporters during a test run on a recently completed 11 km section of a new rail line that will connect the Belgrade suburb of Zemun polje, the city airport and the National Stadium, Sofronijevic said she had asked Hungarian Minister for Transport and Investment David Vitezy to inform the Serbian side when the Belgrade-Budapest rail line would be opened to traffic.

"The Hungarians carried out the final full-load test run on the section from Kelebija to Budapest. Besides congratulating him on the successful test runs, I asked Minister Vitezy to inform us of the potential start date - the date of the establishment of high-speed traffic on the Belgrade-Budapest line," Sofronijevic said, noting that Serbia had met all its commitments in the project.
