Scheunemann: US investments abroad a win-win combination for both sides

BELGRADE - Serbia is a major investment hub for the entire Balkans and its people are capable and educated, International Republican Institute Board of Directors member Randy Scheunemann said in Belgrade on Monday.

For potential investors, it is very important to know what a country's taxes and labour legislation are like, and they need to be certain those things will be stable and not subject to the whims of those who are in power, he said.

At a meeting with members of the economic caucus of the Serbian parliament, which addressed the impact of business and other interests on US Congress policies and the US policy on Serbia and the Western Balkans, Scheunemann said he would like to see US investors in Serbia outnumber Chinese ones.

He said that, unlike some other major investments, US investments were a win-win combination and beneficial to both the US and the country receiving them.
