BELGRADE - Serbian PM Ana Brnabic said on Friday Serbia's IT services exports in Q1 2023 alone totalled 786 mln euros, rising by 44 pct y-o-y, and that record-high exports of 4 bln euros were expected this year.
Brnabic said the number of employees in the Serbian IT sector had risen by as many as 3,435 since the beginning of the year.
"Information you have been able to read in some media outlets about a major slowdown in the Serbian ICT sector is not true. A certain slowdown is taking place globally, but that is not the case in our country. Yes, there are companies that are reducing the number of employees, but the number of companies that are only just opening centres in Serbia, as well as the number of our companies that are growing and the number of new emerging companies is much higher. We are still seeing a major increase in the number of employees in the ICT sector in 2023," Brnabic told reporters after the signing of an 80 mln euro loan agreement with the EBRD that will help further construction of science and technology parks in Serbia and the construction of the BIO4 campus in Belgrade.
